WELCOME TO TIPPENS WOOD !
an oasis in an urban jungle
At Tippens Wood the past meets the present.......
Many years ago roe deer roamed in this ancient woodland.
But we now have alpaca and guanaco! The alpaca graze the pasture, the guanaco roam in the fields and the woodland and the deer remain in the woodland with the foxes and other wildlife.
We believe in conservation of this unique woodland and its wild life. We strive to maintain harmony between the bio diversity of the woodland and sustain it with animals that will co exist and compliment the environment. Our alpaca and guanaco provide the solution for eco friendly rural diversification. Tippens Wood has its unique eco system.
Alpaca and guanaco evolved millions of years ago in the semi-desert regions of South America. They survived on poor grazing because of their highly efficient digestive systems.
The Alpaca manage the pasture. They actually "cut" the grass with their unusual front incisor teeth rather than chew. Their lightweight, padded soft two toed feet (no hooves) are soft on the ground thus reducing soil damage.
Domesticated guanaco graze pasture grass enjoy nibbling nettles and shrubs. This keeps our hedges and brambles under control. Eco friendly woodland management.
We are happy to talk to you about our unique woodland, our unique guanaco and the alpaca and our vision for the future!
SEASONS AT TIPPENS WOOD
Our vision probably is not dissimilar to those who dwelled before us at Tippens Wood
The passing seasons remind us
Nothing changes in our environment
The trees tell the story
We like the living beings around us
Live and make history
Change is only in our minds
The future is the vision
The still white of the Winter.....

The splash of bluebells in the Spring...

The lazy hazy days of Summer...

The russet tones of Autumn...
