WELCOME TO TIPPENS WOOD !
At Tippens Wood the past meets the present.......
Many years ago roe deer roamed in this ancient woodland.
But we now have alpacas! The alpacas graze the pasture and the deer remain in the woodland.
We believe in conservation of this unique woodland. We strive to maintain harmony between the bio diversity of the woodland and sustain it with animals that will co exist and compliment the environment. Our alpacas provide the solution for an eco friendly rural diversification.
Alpacas evolved millions of years ago in the semi-desert regions of Peru where environmental conditions were much harsher than we in England have experienced. They survived on poor grazing because of their highly efficient digestive systems. They actually “cut” the grass with their unusual front incisor teeth rather than chewing it. Their lightweight, padded soft two toed feet (no hooves) is soft on the ground thus reducing soil damage. And finally the alpaca byproduct “PACAPOO” is pH balanced and an excellent, natural, slow-release low-odor fertilizer.
The alpaca is a natural when it comes to conservation, pollution reduction and sustainability.
We are happy to talk to you about our unique woodland, our unique alpacas and our vision for the future!
Seasons at Tippens Wood
Our vision probably was not dissimilar to those who dwelled before us at Tippens Wood
The passing seasons remind us
Nothing changes in our environment
The trees tell the story
We like the animals around us
Live and make history
Change is only in our minds
The future is the vision
The still white of the Winter.....
